Dovetailing

Screw BowFlex and StairMaster, you want to work up a good sweat? I recommend a big old slab of red oak and a jack plane. It used to be round…and now it’s flat.

The window in my shop faces west, so the raking afternoon light is perfect for tidying up surfaces like this.

It will be the top of my rebuilt mini-bench. Which is a small bench that I clamp onto my regular workbench when doing fine detail work or can take on the road with 2 F-clamps to turn any table into a workbench. The old one wasn’t long enough and a little narrow. This new top will fix that.

And because it’s a long process, dovetail #3 where the baseline got a little violated. I ran out of scrap popular, so I milled up some walnut for tonight’s attempt. I’ll probably touch up the chisels first…
