Looms & Other Fiber Arts

It turns out that people who are into fiber arts are not into woodworking, not even the trivial level required to make looms. I was shown the plans for a marudai and asked to make some, being assured they would sell like hotcakes. This was in a period where I really needed the cash and was looking for simple things like this.

They were not wrong. Over the course of approximately three years (2010-2012), I made over 250 marudai and a half dozen inkle looms. As you can see, they are really simple. But, it required several mutually exclusive setups in my very small shop to make them, even in batch mode. So I don’t ever want to make another.
